Everything is big in Texas – you can take your pick from the medical care to the mall. It is a well-known fact that Houston is the biggest city in Texas and just the idea that the National Space Station is located in Houston, you’ll find that the people there are certainly into big things. Nonetheless, the land area is not just the only thing that is big in this Texan city nor it’s their aerospace concept, rather, it’s their love and support for sports, too.
Take for instance, this city’s basketball team in the NBA which is the Houston Rockets. Their team went on to acquire one of the biggest (or more aptly called, the tallest) players that ever played in the NBA. And what’s interesting is that they took this person from one of the largest populated area in the world, which is China. This NBA superstar is none other than Yao Ming who is famous for his nickname “The Great Wall of Yao”. Yao Ming is indeed one of the tallest players in NBA at the height of 7’6” and he is befitting to be part of a city team that embodies the meaning of being big.
Houston also boasts of being part of nearly every big and major professional sports team by having the Houston Texans in the NFL, the Astros in the MLB, the Aeros in AHL (hockey), the Dynamo in MLS (soccer) and the Houston Comets in the WNBA. One thing that Houston residents can be proud of is that their city had played host to the biggest sporting events such as the Super Bowl, the NBA All-Star Game, the World Series and the NCAA Final Four.
