For Houston animal-lovers, the Houston Zoo is the best place to go to see rare and wild animals in captivity. Houston Zoo is also another of Houston’s best attractions thus a must-visit for visiting tourists. The 55-acre zoo is home to more than 4,500 animals and is visited by almost 2 million visitors per year.
The Houston Zoo also features African Forest Exhibit which as first unveiled last December 2010. The exhibit showcases colony of chimpanzees as well as cohabitation of antelopes and rhinos. On top of that, the zoo is also comprised of several facilities and other exhibits such as John P. McGovern Children’s Zoo, Carruth Natural Encounters Building, Asian Elephant Habitat, Kipp Aquarium, Reptile House, and many more.
